While Ronda Rousey has been completely absent from MMA media before and after the fight, she did release a PR statement regarding her loss and her future. Here is Ronda Rousey’s statement she gave to ESPN:
I want to say thank you to all of my fans who have been there for me in not only the greatest moments but in the most difficult ones. Words cannot convey how much your love and support means to me.
Returning to not just fighting, but winning, was my entire focus this past year. However, sometimes — even when you prepare and give everything you have and want something so badly — it doesn’t work how you planned. I take pride in seeing how far the women’s division has come in the UFC and commend all the other women who have been part of making this possible, including Amanda.
I need to take some time to reflect and think about the future. Thank you for believing in me and understanding.
Of course, she probably didn’t write that – her PR team did, and she has every right to not do it if that is what she wants. But people value how you treat them and they especially put a lot of stock in how a fighter takes a loss. While Dominic Cruz will gain new fans following UFC 207, Ronda is unlikely to.
Several fighters have reached out to Rousey in support after her loss at UFC 207. We don’t know if she will retire or keep fighting as of yet.
Jones has always been supportive of Ronda on social media.
Woodley and Mighty Mouse think that if Ronda wants to come back, she should. MMA is a very dangerous sport and sooner or later, everybody loses. However, that doesn’t mean she can’t come back – she still is an amazing athlete and one of the best female fighters in the world.
