Fighting Harada drops back in class after he finished a credible fourth in the Redoute’s Choice Stakes at Caulfield last start. He has raced well without winning during his racing career to date and on exposed form he does have a genuine class edge over the rest of this field. With even luck in running from the inside barrier draw, he will prove tough to beat.
Kuelblitz has been freshened-up since he finished a credible fifth in the Tasmanian Derby and he has trialed nicely at Cranbourne ahead of his return to racing. He should still have plenty of residual fitness and he doesn’t take on the strongest field this afternoon. He will make his own luck right on the speed and will be tough to run down late.
Shamar hasn’t been seen at the races for a while, but she does have an excellent first-up record and she has produced a couple of high-rating performances during her career to date. She will need a touch of luck in running from the tricky barrier draw, but at $10 she is well and truly over the odds in what is an open race.
Emaan won in impressive fashion at Geelong first-up last campaign and she wasn’t disgraced behind some good horses at The Valley and Ladbrokes Park. She has drawn wide, but she does have early speed and it would not surprise to see Regan Bayliss ride her aggressively in the early stages of this contest.
