Cordoned has generally raced at a much tougher level than this and at his last start before being sent to the spelling paddock he recorded a fast-finishing win at Canterbury. He does have a big weight on his back, but on his best form he does have a genuine class edge over the rest of this field and will be tough to beat.
Rock Tsar has improved each time that he has been seen at the races this preparation and he finds himself in a very winnable race this afternoon. He will settle in the second-half of the field from the wide barrier draw, but he does have the turn-of-foot required to finish over the top of his rivals.
Sleepwalker recorded a tough win at Port Macquarie last start and he didn’t have a great deal of luck last start at Newcastle. He may be a six-year-old, but he is only lightly-raced and there is no doubt that he is racing in the best form of his career. He makes his own luck right on the speed and he can deliver the in-form Kim Waugh another winner.
Helcrimson has performed well without winning in his first two race starts and he looks very well-placed to record a maiden race win this afternoon. He maps to get a dream run in transit with Dean Yendall in the saddle and he is a horse that still does have plenty of upside.
