Hobart – Race 4 2:47pm AEDT
Gee Gee Red Prince has been in excellent form this preparation and he looks very well-placed in this race this afternoon. He chased home Lord Da Vinci last start in the Sky Racing Stakes and there is no horse of that quality in this field. He makes his own luck right on the speed and will be very tough to beat.
Mystic Journey has recorded two wins from as many starts and she is a young filly with plenty of potential. She has a host of early speed and there is every chance that she will simply prove too quick for her rivals. Anthony Darmanin will take her straight to the front and she is the horse to beat.
Pleasuring has recorded only one race win during her racing career to date, but she has generally raced in stronger company than this and she has form around some quality horses. The Strutt Stakes really does look like a race in two between Pleasuring and Pateena Arena and I give the Darren Weir-trained galloper the edge.
There is no fitter horse in the Hobart Cup than Dee I Cee and he has every possible chance to return to winning form. He was only narrowly denied in the Australia Day Cup at Warwick Farm and the field he faces in this contest really isn’t much tougher. He makes his own luck right on the speed and will be in the finish.
